Kansas City 2007:

The Magic Brush was asked by Kevin Green Homes to participate in their 3rd Extreme Makeover Home Edition build in March 2007. Extreme Makeover came back to Kansas City for a 2nd time and once again asked Kevin Green to build their home.

The Jacobo family, located North of the River, have four children of their own and adopted five nieces and nephews rather than lose them to the state's foster-care system. The Grandfather also lives in the house to help raise the children. The father, Jesus, worked over 80 hours a week to provide for the family. He and his wife slept in their unheated garage. Three of the boys lived in the basement hallway that was often flooded by the laundry room. Their Grandfather slept on the living room floor.

The old 912 sq. ft. home was falling apart and the Jacobo family was in danger of losing their nieces and nephews to the state's welfare system. In this episode, Ty Pennington and his crew demolished their old house to build a new home so they could all stay together.

The Magic Brush worked with designer Michael Maloney to create the following finishes for the family:

The entryway and living room were done in a terra cotta colored plaster.
The dining room was a 3 layered plaster finish glazed in gold that had to be dried in the middle of the night using an industrial sized heater.
The team made a faux bamboo paper in red for the kitchen walls. Thank you to Pam's Paper for leading the installation of that paper.
The sitting room and stairway were both done in a cobalt blue venetian plaster which was donated by Zeke's Paints.
The reading nook at the top of the stairs was glazed.

The Magic Brush team included: Jennifer Allwood, Jeri Howe, Deborah Way, Dana Noller, Jon Peterson, Erin Richardson, Lindsey Folsom, Becky DeWitt, Pam Elkins and Brenda Deeter. Thank you so much team for your generosity and hard work.

Kansas City 2005:

ABC's hit reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" came to Kansas City, Missouri in April 2005.  The producers chose to create a new home for Steven Johnson, a Kansas City firefighter who saved the life of a paramedic. Steven Johnson also is the single father of five children, two of whom he adopted.   Kevin Green Homes was selected to be the builder on the project. The Magic Brush Inc. had done some work for Kevin Green previously—both in a display home and in his private residence—so he recommended the company to the show's producers.   The designers chose a  torn-paper treatment that the Magic Brush team created ahead of time in Allwood's garage. They were able to install the torn paper very quickly as a focal wall in the music room  While on site,  the Magic Brush was asked to participate in Ty Pennington's "secret room" for the firefighter's daughter, G'na. Since G'na is the only girl in a family of five children, Pennington decided to create a special retreat for her—beautiful bedroom with an adjoining spa-like bathroom. To personalize the room for G'na, Ty requested we paint an ornate "G" on the ceiling to match the pillow monograms.

The project was in  Rose Hill, Kansas approximately 20 miles from Wichita . Another torn paper treatment was done for this show.  This time in  fushia and hot pink on the walls of the television room for the family's 5 daughters .
